Hotels and Accommodation in Tahaa (Society Islands)

There are three places I recommend in Tahaa. Hopefully, one will fall within your budget. If your are thinking of splurging on any of the islands, Tahaa is the place to do it. Le Taha’a Private Island & Spa is something worth experiencing.

Le Taha'a, Private Island & Spa
The Le Taha'a, Private Island & Spa was designed to be the most luxurious hotel in French Polynesia and I do say they have succeeded. Located on the gorgeous and pristine motu Tautau, the resort faces the island of Tahaa on the lagoon side and offers an unsurpassed view of Bora Bora on the ocean side. Coral gardens surround this resort, providing the perfect combination of luxury, privacy and unsurpassed natural beauty.

When you arrive in Raiatea, a private water taxi will be waiting to bring you directly to the hotel. Within 30 minutes you will arrive at the resort and warmly welcomed with an ice cold drink and brought straight to your bungalow - avoiding the registration desk. For those seeking the ultimate in private transportation, helicopter service is also available from the islands of Bora Bora and Tahiti. The bungalows are the largest in Polynesia. There are 48 overwater suites and 12 beach suites. Each is built in the traditional Polynesian style with thatched roofs and local materials. The beach bungalows have a private patio and garden, private swimming pool and outdoor bath and shower. All the bungalows have a spacious lounge and terrace. The overwater bungalows also have a private deck with access to the lagoon. The public areas of the hotel are built in the trees providing wonderful views of Tahaa and her lagoon. The hotel also features three restaurants and lovely spa services.

The Blue Nui Dive Center also happens to be based here. Stéphane, the manager is a wonderfully attentive dive instructor and you are guaranteed a memorable experience scuba diving with him.

SUPERIOR HOTELS

Vahine Island
Vahine Island is a small resort on one of the motus north of Tahaa. With just 9 bungalows (3 overwater and 6 beach), you will find yourself surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear water. The bungalows are built in a local style and the owners also have snorkeling equipment and outrigger canoes available free for your use. Divers note that you are a 1/2-hour boat ride north of the Blue Nui Dive Center at the Taha'a Pearl Beach Resort. It is no problem for you to be picked up but you need to keep the time/distance in mind particularly if you will be diving any of the sites in the south.

Hotel La Pirogue
If you are looking for a perfectly charming and idyllic place to get away, La Pirogue is it. Located on Motu Porou in the north of Tahaa and surrounded by a white sand beach and pristine lagoon, there are a total of 4 Beach Bungalows and 4 Garden Bungalows. Each is built in the local Tahitian style of bamboo, wood and thatched roofs. Whether you are in a Beach Bungalow and looking out to the picture perfect lagoon or in a Garden Bungalow and surrounded by nature’s bounty, you will find the location of La Pirogue utterly enchanting. In addition, all who visit rave about the culinary skills of the owner/chef. This small hotel is conveniently located to Blue Nui Dive Center so pick-ups will be no problem.
